Meanings

• V（辞書形）＋ 一方だ: “more and more (in one direction)”; often negative or objective trends.
• V（ます）＋ つつある: “in the process of”; formal/written.

Examples

• 都市の 人口は 増える 一方だ。— The urban population keeps increasing.
• 地球温暖化は 進み つつある。— Global warming is in progress.
• 原材料の 価格は 上がる 一方だ ので、対策が 必要だ。

Notes

• 一方だ often used with verbs like 増える・減る・悪化する.
• つつある prefers neutral/objective tone (news, reports).
