Japanese Grammar N5 - Part 5: Adjectives い・な and Conjugation

There are two types of adjectives in Japanese:

い-adjectives: たかい (tall/expensive), たのしい (fun)
な-adjectives: しずかな (quiet), きれいな (pretty/clean)

Conjugation (Polite Form)

い-adjectives:
たかい → たかくない → たかかった → たかくなかった
(tall → not tall → was tall → was not tall)

な-adjectives:
しずかです → しずかではありません → しずかでした → しずかではありませんでした
(quiet → not quiet → was quiet → was not quiet)

Examples

• この ほんは おもしろいです。/ おもしろくないです。
  (This book is interesting. / It is not interesting.)

• きのうの パーティーは にぎやかでした。
  (Yesterday’s party was lively.)

Convert to the required form:

1. さむい → (negative/present)
2. べんり(な) → (past/negative)
